For any small leasehold business, security of tenure can be a major concern and ideally owning your own premises allows you the freedom to trade, without the worry that your lease might not be renewed, that your rent could go up and that you might be forced to relocate.
For eight years, Katy Wilton has run a successful hair salon business in the small town of Wadebridge, Cornwall, recently listed among the Sunday Times best places to live in Britain.
When the opportunity arose to buy a fully-fitted salon with room to spare in the heart of the town centre, she quickly realised that this would be too good an opportunity to miss.
Katy was introduced to Conrad Robins at ASC Cornwall who recognised immediately the benefits of her business proposal. Conrad knew which lenders would be the ideal partners and quickly prepared a comprehensive application for finance. Naturally, the lending source was keen to assist and a formal offer of funding was soon at hand.
With the formalities completed, Katy and husband Richard are now landlords to the business Hair It Is, which, structured in a tax-efficient fashion, gives them control of their premises and forms a major part of their financial and lifestyle planning.
Arrangements are also well in hand to extend the services available; with a beauty salon and nail bar in the first floor coming soon.
